Early Experience
It all began with an internship at a prominent school in Rotterdam, where the challenge of overseeing 4000 machines ignited my passion for user and device management. As a result, this experience shaped the foundation of my career. In fact, it set the direction for everything that followed.
Eager for diverse experiences, I switched to secondment, experiencing varied environments and corporate cultures. During all the years in secondment, the focus was always on managing desktops and smartphones. In addition, these roles helped me understand how organisations approach mobility in different ways. Moreover, they strengthened my interest in device and user management. As a result, I developed a broad and adaptable skill set. Additionally, this period gave me the opportunity to refine the way I approach end-user challenges.
Transition Into Consultancy
Started with Novell, moving over to Microsoft SCCM and Microsoft Intune after. Along the way, I also started managing iPhones with Apple Configurator before Apple Automated Device Enrollment became platform-available. Consequently, I gained experience with both traditional and modern deployment methods. Furthermore, this combination allowed me to adapt to rapidly evolving technology. In addition, it taught me the value of flexible solutions across different platforms. As a result, I became more confident in designing management solutions that fit different environments.
After a few years of secondment I switched to a more consultancy-based role so I could advise and implement more smartphone-focused management solutions like Samsung Knox, MobileIron, Blackberry UEM and VMWare AirWatch. In addition, I worked across a wide spectrum of industries, from law firms, government institutions and non-profit organisations. As a result, I gained a deeper understanding of industry-specific needs. Furthermore, these experiences helped me refine my consulting approach. Moreover, they strengthened my ability to translate technical solutions into real-world impact.
Focus on Adoption & Freelancing
During the projects I joined and executed I saw that the adoption part of the projects was much more important than the technology alone. Therefore, I moved to a role to learn more about the adoption part of projects while still maintaining knowledge of technology. Meanwhile, I continued building my expertise in mobile device management. In fact, combining adoption and technology gave my work much more impact. Additionally, this dual focus helped me support organisations more effectively.
For me this was a perfect combination of soft skills, user stories and technical solutions in one role.
To fully focus myself on providing the best advice and carrying out tailor-made implementations on the projects I work on, I started freelancing as a freelance mobile device management consultant in 2023. Since both my parents are entrepreneurs, being an entrepreneur is in my blood. Consequently, freelancing felt like a natural step. In addition, it allowed me to fully align my work with my passion. Moreover, it gave me the freedom to shape my own approach.
